Discover The Connection Between You, God, and His Word.

There is a very close connection between you, God and His Word. Jesus Himself is called the “Word of God.” To know God, you must know His Word; to honor God, you must honor His Word; to be in touch with God, you must be in touch with His Word. Many promises are given to those who master the Bible so well that the Bible masters them.

— We are promised spiritual stability, fruitfulness and true prosperity as we meditate on His Word day and night. (Psalm 1:1-3)

— When the words of Jesus abide in us, our desires will be given to us, according to God’s will. (John 15:7)

— Meditating on God’s Word leads to prosperity and success in our endeavors. (Joshua 1:8)

— We will have more wisdom than our enemies, more insight than our teachers and more understanding than the aged. (Psalm 119:97-100)

— We will have greater power over sin. (Psalm 119:11)

— We will have comfort in affliction. (Psalm 119:50)

— By drawing near to God, we have His promise that He will draw near to us. (James 4:8)

These astonishing observations, these magnificent claims, these profound promises—they help us realize how important the Bible is, and what remarkable potential we bring to our lives when we become serious students of Scripture. That’s why it’s so important that we commit ourselves to mastering the Bible so well that the Bible masters us.

Do You Trust God To Do What He Promises To Do?

God wants us to make right decisions, which means choices that align with His will. He has promised to give us instruction and direction so we’ll know how to proceed (Psalm 32:8).

Although we all want quick answers from the Lord, Scripture tells us to pray tirelessly, without giving up. Persisting in prayer positions us to be drawn closer to God, where we are better prepared to hear from Him.

Trusting in God’s promises will lift us above our doubts into a place of quiet rest. We may not have an answer yet, but in waiting on Him with hopeful expectation, we’ll experience His “peace which surpasses all comprehension” (Phil. 4:7).

Scripture urges us to let Christ’s peace rule in our heart (Col. 3:15). Doing so will help us find our way past confusion and receive His clear direction without doubting. Discovering God’s will is worth every effort we make and any time spent waiting.

Ask The Holy Spirit To Help You Pray

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.— Romans 8:26-27 NLT

As a believer, you are not left to your own resources to cope with problems. Even when you don’t know the right words to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with and for you, and God answers. With God helping you pray, you don’t need to be afraid to come before him.

Ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for you “in harmony with God’s own will.” Then, when you bring your requests to God, trust that he will always do what is best.

God’s Blessings Are Rich and Abundant

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.—Psalm 37:4

God’s blessings are so rich and abundant that we must guard against loving Him merely for what He gives us. He Himself is to be the greatest passion of a believer’s life. And if this is true of us, then we will prioritize Him over possessions, vocation, and even other relationships.

Yet some people miss the true message of Psalm 37:4 because they focus only on the part that seems to say they can get what they want from God. It’s important to notice that the qualifying statement attached to that promise is devotion to Him: “Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart” (emphasis added).

Although God “richly supplies us with all things to enjoy,” they should never supplant our delight in Him (1 Timothy 6:17). For instance, God has made it possible for me to travel and photograph some beautiful places, but I know that the key to enjoying life is to delight in Him above all else. God’s rightful place is as Lord of our life; to give anything else that position puts us at risk and dishonors Him.

The human heart is naturally selfish, and without God as top priority, we will likely pursue earthly goods and pleasures. But when He is our first love, those cravings are replaced by desires that fit His will and purpose for us.

Although David faced great tragedy and heartache, he understood that a heart devoted to the Lord also knows delight and blessing. Take David’s words to heart, and let the Lord become your top priority. You will discover that knowing Him is your greatest delight.

Love Thoughts About Jesus

As we grow in our walk with the Lord, we can be more confident in His protection and love for us. All good things in life are ours if we ask for and live for those things that are God’s will for us.

Meditating on God’s Holy Word daily will reveal insights into Jesus; how we should conduct ourselves; and provide a path to righteousness.

May God add His blessings to your life.
