Has someone called you a lost cause? A failure? Has someone dismissed you as insignificant? Don’t listen to them. Let me repeat that. “Don’t listen to them!” They don’t know what they’re talking about. You were conceived by God before you were conceived by your parents. You were loved in heaven before you were known on earth. You aren’t an accident.
When you say yes to God you are being made into God’s image. In the eyes of God you are worth dying for. Let this truth define the way you see yourself. Let this truth define the way you see other people. Every person you see was created by God to bear his image and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. This is God’s plan. This is God’s promise. And he will fulfill it!
When you think back over your life are you pleased with what you remember or are you like most who have some rough patches along the way? Sometimes when I think about it, I am saddened because I wish I could have done better. But you know what, God isn’t keeping score. And, the fact is, there is nothing we can do on our own to secure our salvation and an eternal home in heaven.
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, died for our sins (all the rough patches we had) so when we stand before God on judgment day our sins are erased with Jesus’ blood. The next time you begin to dwell on your past, remember His blood and its power to wipe your slate clean.
A final word of encouragement. God doesn’t remember your sins. Not one.
When we see God involved in the circumstances of our lives as we walk with Jesus Christ, it will give shape and form to our lives in a way that we would never have otherwise! Others will see it too. Things will make sense, problems are easier to solve and we will see them in their proper perspective.
Therefore, if you see God working in your lives, then everything God is doing with us will begin to “come together.” Your trust in Him will be increased and you will “walk the walk” of faith and love for Him.
We are all made in God’s image! Sin has distorted this image, but it has not destroyed it. Our moral purity has been tainted, but do not think for a moment that God has rescinded his promise or altered his plan. He still creates people in his image to bear his likeness and reflect his glory.
As we fellowship with God, read his Word, obey his commands, and seek to reflect his character, something wonderful emerges. We say things God would say. We do things God would do. We forgive, we share, and we love. In time an image begins to appear. God’s goal is simply to rub away anything that is not of him so the inborn image of God can be seen in us!
Today is the Lord’s day. Rest, relax and praise the Lord.
In a recent rain storm that battered our area, I stood at the window looking and listening to what was happening. The thunder and lightning was intense. It reminded me of the power God has at His finger tips. He created the earth and all that is in it, so why couldn’t He control the weather?
As I watched the torrential rain, lightning, and listened to the thunder I was reminded of how small I am in relation to God. But, I am also reminded of how much God loves me and provides for me through His great power. Historically His power helped the Israelite’s overcome their enemies on more than one occasion as well as providing for their daily needs.
I strongly believe God is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer who protects me from the enemy. I hide in the shadow of His wings. With God on my side, who can be against me?
The next time you feel powerless in a situation remember that God is as close to you as a prayer reaching out to Him. He is always there for you. He never leaves you. He loves you that much!
As an owner of two dogs, occasionally I face the challenge of getting them outside to do their business when it’s pouring down rain. As a resident of Georgia, we experience storms that produce a lot of rain. So much rain that it is similar to the story of me like Noah having to build an ark. But, I digress.
Yesterday was one of those days. We woke up to torrential rain and my oldest dog needed to go out. As a female she squats down to pee and with all the rain she resisted at first. So, I did what any Christian would do. I prayed and asked God for a short break in the rain in order to get my dogs out.
You probably know where I am going with this. God answered my prayer and provided a break long enough for me to get both of my dogs out. I was very thankful and I let God know it.
God listens to and answers all our prayers no matter how big or small they might be. Why does He do that? Because He loves us with every fiber of His being and we should love Him the same way. “Thank you again Father for the break in the rain.”
